(More customer reviews)The Harmony Air Purifier has turned out to be a great little workhorse of a machine! I have dogs and this machine does a great job of removing their dust, hair and dander from the air. The only problem I have is the noise. The Harmony is not loud, but it is noticeable. Filter replacement is easy. Filter costs can add up. The recommended replacement on the Hepa filter was 12-18mos, but I needed to replace after 8 months of hard use. Overall I reccomend it. Good Quality, Great Price.

We had previously used a normal HEPA air filter with OK results, However after using the New Comfort 6 stage Air Purifier for only 3 days the difference in her allergies was like night and day!! NO MORE Claritin or Zyrtec, NO MORE waking up with a stuffy nose, NO MORE sneezing attacks, and NO MORE itchy irritated eyes!! It's absolutely AMAZING and I don't know why we waited so long to get one (well really it was her doctor that recommended an ionizing air filter over a normal one to help clean the air of pet dander better) It looks elegant, is quiet, and has great features! I highly recommend it for anyone suffering from allergies.... especially those that are pet related!

The lack of electronic controls (403 versus the 450E) means improved durability. As far as I am concerned, the more durable a device is, the lower the overall cost of ownership as warranty claims require that the owner cover shipping costs to the factory. The 403 is the bang-for-the-buck model in the Blueair inventory. The SmokeStop filter with impregnated carbon granules is a great improvement over the standard HEPASilent by providing both lightweight multigas and odor filtration. CADR 240 means that it should be good for rooms up to 240 sqft (regardless of manufacturer claims) through the life of the filter (as ACH declines due to clogged media). Let the unit run 24/7, else cover it when not in use to prevent the accumulation of dust on the exposed internals. Periodically clean the fan with compressed air and vacuum the intake grill/ion brush region/housing floor regularly, regardless of the presence of accumulated dust. Because the filters (made in the USA) are not exactly cost effective (versus the cost of the unit itself), I run a smaller filtration unit (Sharp FP-P40CX) in the opposite corner of the room so that filter media changes can be extended to one year (YMMV, depends on your IAQ). I prefer the single filter cartridge of the 400 series units to that of the triple filter setup found in the 500 and 600 series. And unlike the 500 and 600 series models which intake air from the bottom of the unit, the 400 series models are better suited for placement on carpeted flooring. The Blueair 403 is assembled in China (I have no problem with that) from parts procured from Germany, Sweden and the USA.

Panasonic F-P15HU2 Air Purifier Review

(More customer reviews)I have several different air purifiers, by Bionaire, Whirlpool and Panasonic. The Bionaires (I have two) have been excellent but according to Amazon users, Bionaire is recently having reliability trouble with that model (# 1175). Thus, when it came time to buy another purifier, I chose this Panasonic for a small room (about 200 sq. ft) and the large Whirlpool for our MBR (400 sq. ft.). We've been using the Panasonic for about a month, now. The design is excellent. It's reasonable attractive, convenient, quiet and effective. I particularly like the form factor (comparatively thin). An LED display shows a red/green bar graph of the amount of particulate matter in the air, as measured by a sensor in the unit. This feature has been educational, as well as somewhat entertaining (okay, I'm easily amused). For example, if I pick a book off a shelf and the display turns more red, I know it's probably time to dust the bookshelves. Bottom line: It's only been a month but, so far, I'm a happy customer.

(More customer reviews)I've used the HEPA filters for at least 5 years like this and they really help keep dust down to a minimum. We also have a high traffic area with a high shedding dog who really contributes to shedding in the house. This has been a tremendous contribution to pure air in our house. It also helps filter out odors in our large livingroom.
I change this larger filter every 2 years and change the prefilter every 3 months. It's surprising how much dirt is in the air when I change the filters.

Bionaire BAP825-U Air Cleaner Review

(More customer reviews)I got this unit from Best buy yesterday, so don't look at this as a long-term usage review. It seems like a nice enough unit, but I chose it over the others at best Buy because I read on the box that "advanced motor and fan blade design provide for quiet operation on any speed". Um, they must have hearing impaired people testing these out in the factory, because I can't get truly "quiet operation" on any speed other than low.
I was amazed when I turned it on and could no longer hear the sound on the videogame I was playing at the time. It was on the high setting, so I switched it to the lowest setting. It was much better, but then it's also doing less for me. When on the ghigh setting, this thing sounds like you're running five microwaves at once. I expected nearly SILENT operation...perhaps even "on any speed"? This unit did not deliver what it advertised.
Overall, it's a good product, but they should not advertise "quiet operation on any speed". That's a flat-out lie!

(More customer reviews)I've had this air purifier for about 2 years and just recently noticed the UV bulb had burned out. I could really tell the difference in the mold count in my apartment!
Mine is black and blends nicely next to my nightstand. I keep it on in auto mode anytime I'm home. It'll kick on a higher speed if it detects dust, odors, etc. The lowest setting is a nice white-noise level for sleeping. It's really low maintenance. I vacuum off the pre-filter and hepa every few weeks. I'd recommend you order an extra UV bulb, so you don't have to wait for replacement.
The only trouble I had with it was right out of the box, one of the clips that holds the cover on was broken. It doesn't need it to operate, so I didn't worry about it.

The Hunter HEPAtech 10 Air Purifier (30010) uses the same long-lasting micro-filter material used in hospital respirators, incubators and anesthetic equipment. Blueair Medical Pro with VOC Filter Review

(More customer reviews)Solid choice based on the 402 with an upgraded motor more powerful that that found in current (2010) model 400 series units. Lose a point for an ion brush plate with four brushes versus the seven brushes found in current 400 series models. Despite what the directional airflow arrow on the VOC filter denotes, install the filter with the prefilter side (it is not a carbon postfilter) facing the ion brushes. All three units I haved tested emit airflow noise akin to rustling turbulence when used with the VOC filter. Unit also supports the use of Particle 402PF and SmokeStop 402SF filters. Why the MD Pro over IQAir at this price range? Size, overall decibel levels at comparable airflow ratings, power consumption (important when running the unit 24/7) and a superior warranty (10 years versus 5 years). Annual filter costs averaged over a five year period also favor the MD Pro (single MDPROVOCF filter with a 12-month filter life). Why not the MD Pro over IQAir at this price range? Degradation of filter efficiency due to loss of electrostatic activity as the filter media clogs, fewer pounds of carbon in the filter, some bypass of unfiltered air which accumulates on the exposed fan and motor of the MD Pro and vacuum maintenance requirements. FYI, I own multiple MD Pro units as well as an IQAir HeathPro Plus and am fully satisfied with them all.

(More customer reviews)We invested in this pricey air purifier because we moved into newly built home. The chemicals from the new materials caused respiratory issues with myself and my daughter. The unit itself definitely helped the issue of airborne chemicals yet the 4 gas cartridges didn't last nearly as long as the manufacturer stated. In fact, the unit itself began to emit chemical odors after 6 months. I have had to replace the gas cartridges 3 times since I purchased this system and at $295 each time I'm not sure how much longer we can afford to keep it running.

(More customer reviews)The unit was shipped to me directly from the manufacturer in a sturdy box. It is light enough for me to carry from room to room. The noise level is loud at the highest setting but I have no problem falling asleep or watching TV when set at the slowest speed.
I have been using this air purifier for a little over a month now. No complain. I have allergies but not the indoor type. It has something to do with polluted outdoor air. Therefore, I always keeps windows and doors close which leads to a stuffy house. Operating the central A/C or heat will take care of the stale air but expensive. The HealthMate takes care of this problem for me. Although I still have my allergy, at least I have fresh air at a low operating cost.
I did experience a small problem when ordering the unit from Healthy Air and Water Products. I ordered the "Plus" but received the the one without +. The vendor did take care of my complain immediately. He offered me an exchange with no charge. I settled for a credit back on the differences between the two models. Great, no hassle and I don't mind buying from them again.

When a new downstairs neighbor moved in, who is a heavy smoker, the smoke came up through the floorboards and into my place. I was literally choking to death. I tried taping over all the electrical outlets, putting special filers in the vents, and blocking every place I could think of where the fumes were entering. Nothing worked until I got the Blueair 601 with the smoke filters. It turns on automatically every time it "smells" smoke. I know exactly when my neighbor is smoking by when it turns on, but it filters all the smoke from circulating into my place. If it wasn't for the Blueair 601 I would have to move.

Amaircare 3000 Portable HEPA Air Cleaner Review

(More customer reviews)I've been a user of this unit for just about 10 years now. Could not be happier with it. It has never let me down, has never stopped working, and I use it every day. I've only had to replace the HEPA filter twice - which is relatively rare given how long I run this thing and how long I've had it.
The only units that might be better than this are the $900-range ones, so for the price you won't find better. I'll buy this again all day long if I had to. Given how long this has lasted me, my total costs of ownership on this keep lowering every year it continues to run. It just doesn't die!
A real test was recently I had moved and while living temporarily in furnished housing, I did not unpack my Americare 3000 since I knew I was in transition and would be in a new residence soon. I had miserable allergies and my nose was stuffed-up every night. I went to the storage unit to retrieve it, and the next day (after letting it run all night), I was instantly feeling better. I even slept better the following night, nose was not congested, no allergies.
Best $500 investment I've ever made, bar-none.
