Germ Guardian AC5000 UV-C and True HEPA Complete Air Cleansing System Review

Germ Guardian AC5000 UV-C and True HEPA Complete Air Cleansing System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have bought several of the stainless steel table top Germ Guardians, even giving some as gifts, they kill germs, mold spores, dust mites, and are excellent for allergies, but they are just air sanitizers and the airflow is limited. This Tower has a powerful airflow system with a true HEPA filter to thoroughly clean and sanitize the air!
I have cats and keep the Tower on a table at the end of the room where their litterbox is located. (I keep all my air sanitizers off the floor.) The Tower works very well and keeps the air fresh and clean, I love it! I keep it turned on high, which would be too loud for a bedroom, but it's very tolerable where I have it. On low it is quieter, but wouldn't serve its purpose as well. If you wanted to use it in a bedroom, you could turn it on high when you weren't in the room to better clean the air, then turn it down before going to bed.
I highly recommend this Tower AND the Stainless Steel Germ Guardian EV-9-102 UV-C Air Sanitizer, depending on your needs.

LightAir IonFlow 50 Style Air Purifier Review

LightAir IonFlow 50 Style Air Purifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The LightAir IonFlow 50S Air Purifier is that rarest of finds; a product that is everything it claims to be and more. I have tried many air purifiers over the years with various results. I noticed over time that they fell into one of the following categories:
1. Essentially worthless- unable to do its job. Usually because of a poor design or by being underpowered.
2. Disposable- Quite a few air purifiers would be fine for a while and then lose effectiveness or stop working completely (usually within the 1st year of ownership). Typically the craftsmanship would be poor and the materials used would be cheap. Customer service would be a joke as well, so trying to fix one of these was a nightmare.
3. Overpriced- Very common category. The advertising would promise the moon, but the reality was that you were paying an extremely high price for mediocrity. Typically includes an ongoing cost for filters as well.
4. Esthetically Deficient- I mean seriously loud, ugly, huge, heavy, dirty, a hassle to clean, or all of the above.
I wish I had the patience to actually categorize each of the air purifiers I have tried so that you would stay away from them, but the best I can do is to say that the ONLY air purifier that I have ever owned that has done its job exactly as advertised while remaining totally silent, is easy to clean, has nothing to periodically replace and is actually stylish enough that many find it attractive is this one right here: the LightAir IonFlow 50S. Now that I have found it and put it to the test, there is no other air purifier that I would own. Period. It's in a category all by itself....Pound for Pound the Best Air Purifier on the market today.

Holmes HAP424-U HEPA-Type Tower Air Purifier Review

Holmes HAP424-U HEPA-Type Tower Air Purifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this filter because I have cats and birds, and before I started using it, I always had a coating of "bird dust" on everything and was concerned about breathing it. I bought it in mid summer, and in early fall, I opened it up to see if the filters were "catching" anything, and sure enough, they were covered with a fine powdery silt, and then I realized that the bird dust that used to cover desks and other surfaces had almost disappeared since I had started using it. I was grateful to know that the machine had been doing its job. Whenever it was on, I did notice a subtle change in air quality...it seemed fresher. I have kept it running almost constantly for three months, and have not had any problems with it.
While it's working, I don't notice the sound that much, especially on the lower setting which is what I usually keep it on. It simply becomes "white noise". The higher setting is definitely louder, so if that's something that bothers a person, it should be kept in mind, but it's a humming, blowing sound, not rattling or harsh.
I can't compare it to other air purifiers because it's the only one I've ever had, but for the price, and for a person on a budget, I think it's done an amazing job. I'd like to get another for a different part of my house.

Sanyo ABC-VW24 Air Washer Air Purification System with Electrolyzed Water Technology Review

Sanyo ABC-VW24 Air Washer Air Purification System with Electrolyzed Water Technology
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The thing I like best about the Sanyo Air Washer Purification System (besides that it does a great job of purifying the air) is that it has a nice sleek look to it and doesn't detract from the room decor. It has a handle built into the top, making it easy to carry (15.9 lbs.) and it's pretty quiet as air purifiers go. It has a 4-stage HEPA filter removes 99.97% of airborne particles and allergens. The other thing I really like is that the filters can be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner and are supposed to last for about 4 years. (You'd want to use a HEPA vacuum cleaner or you'd defeat the purpose.) I called customer service to ask about the price of replacement filters and they told me the suggested retail price is $69. That's pretty much in line with other filters I've researched. The customer service people were very helpful in answering questions about the unit which I count as a big plus.
I don't know if the electrolyzed water technology is just a gimmick or not, but the unit does a good job of cleaning the air and removing odors from any room that I place it in. There are several articles on the internet about electrolyzed water technology and electrolyzed water being used to sanitize water and possibly use it to kill bacteria in a number of applications including using it as a non-toxic way to clean fruits and vegetables in the food industry. It would make sense that it could be useful to kill bacteria and viruses in the air. With pets and all their dander, not to mention all the pollen and dust in the air this time of year, it gets a real workout around here. I hope that we find that we have fewer colds in the winter.
Just a few details that I didn't include in the video: I measured the watts that the unit takes at the low, medium and high speeds with a P3 International P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor device. At low speed it uses 4 - 8 watts (the higher number when it's emitting the electrolyzed water. You'll see that in the video.), on medium 13 - 17 watts, on high 57 - 63 watts, and if you use the "power" setting, 63 - 65 watts. This compares favorably with other air cleaners that I've used in the past or use now and it seems to work more quickly at removing odors.
BTW, another reviewer had mentioned that the "Device contains a chemical known to the state of Caifornia to cause cancer, birth defects, etc." Living in California I'm used to seeing these warnings on just about every piece of electrical equipment I buy due to the "Prop 65" laws here. Nonetheless, when I called Sanyo, I asked about this warning and what part of the unit had the chemical. As I expected it is the lead in the electrical cord connection, the same as my computer. When handling electrical cords it's always a good idea to wash your hands afterward.
I hope the video is useful. It's difficult to tell from a small photo what the unit looks like and I wanted you to have a better idea of how it worked and what it sounds like.

Germ Guardian AC5000B UVC Tower Air Purifier, Black Review

Germ Guardian AC5000B UVC Tower Air Purifier, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Bought one of these a month or so ago locally, and have been so happy with it that I'm here on Amazon buying another one for the second floor. It is extremely effective in purifying the air of dust and odors. It has made a huge difference in my allergies. Looking forward to having one cranking on each floor. The filters are rather expensive, but all HEPAs are.

Airfree Onix 3000 Mobile Home Air Purifier Sanitizer Unit System Review

Airfree Onix 3000 Mobile Home Air Purifier Sanitizer Unit System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Having recently been diagnosed with asthma I was anxious to find a good air purifier for my bedroom. I opted for the Airfree Onix 3000 because it was not only rated highly but, amazingly, required no maintenance.Within a matter of hours after plugging it in I noticed that the air smelled a lot fresher and the first morning after having the purifier in my room I woke up with almost no congestion in my nose (a first!)so it must be doing a good job of getting rid of the allergens. The best part is that because I am a light sleeper it's wonderful to have a purifier that is totally silent. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about the anti-stress light but it's kind of a pretty so I may just leave it on. It's too early to comment on this product's longevity but I am extremely happy with it so far. So happy, in fact, that I am ordering 2 more for other parts of our house.

Honeywell Long-Life Pure HEPA QuietCare Air Purifier, 17000 Review

Honeywell Long-Life Pure HEPA QuietCare Air Purifier, 17000
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As someone who is highly allergic to cigarette smoke and other air pollutants and irritants, I purchased a round Honeywell HEPA air filter when it first came on the market several years ago. It still works well in the living room, but it is quite noisy even on its lowest setting.
This year I purchased another Honeywell air cleaner with a HEPA filter (Model 17400) for my bedroom because I had contacted bacterial pneumonia last year and wanted to make sure I did not get it again. Next, I purchased this Honeywell 17000 Air Cleaner (with HEPA filter) for use in a smaller bedroom which has been turned into a home office and library.
These air cleaners really work! This winter I have not had a cold or flu. Also, this Honeywell Air Cleaner with HEPA filter is whisper soft, and I have had no problems with sleeping, working, reading, watching tv, or listening to music when it is running on the low and medium settings. I leave it on all the time, and I've found that it cleans the air best when the door is closed.
It has a convenient handle on the top, so I can move it to another room quite easily. Also, it is light enough that I can take it with me in the car if I want to use it away from home.
The prefilters last about 3-6 months, (and they can be vacuumed often if you have pets who shed). I change my HEPA filter every year, but you can wait 3 years to do so. These filters are easy to change. The Model 17000 is for a smaller room, and the Model 17400 is for a larger space.
Highly recommended for anyone who has pets, who lives with or entertains people who smoke, and who is allergic to dust, molds, or pollens.
