Its a must have if you do vacuming,or work in a dusty enviroment like yard work; especially if you are Asthmatic or sensitive to dust and other irritants like dust mites,dander, mold, pollen etc.

Multi-Tech Ion Air Purifier Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this about half a year ago, and while it does seem to work somewhat (I can tell from dust in the filter.) The noise level increases greatly with age. It was never anything close to whisper quiet, but now it is about half the sound decibels of a running lawnmower. While I could tolerate it enough to turn it on when I was out of my room, it is now loud enough that people living in the dorm next to me can here it throughout the day. In addition to this, the effectiveness of it is dying as it gets louder. I am generally pleased with the things I buy from Amazon based on the reviews, and so despite at least six years of membership (in one way or another) this is the first review I have written. Before this I never had reason enough to warn other consumers.

Hunter 30714 HEPAtech Small Tower Three Speed Air Purifier with Ionizer Review

(More customer reviews)I really enjoy using this air purifier. I find it's easier to breathe and sleep now that I am using this. From what I've read Hunter is great about standing behind their product. The noise level was certainly as expected. It has Turbo mode, which should not be run for extended periods of time (couple of hours) and also day and night. Day has a noise level somewhere in between the hum of my microwave and the hum of my computer. Night is just a bit louder than my computer fan. I actually love the white noise it creates in the background. It's easy to move around for people of average mobility and strength. I took off one star considering the price of the replacement filters and lack of value priced alternatives. The pre-filter runs $20 and needs to be replaced every 3 months ($80 per year) and the primary filter runs $30 and needs to be replaced twice per year ($60). Altogether that's $140 to keep the air of an 11 x 13 room clean. I feel the filters are way out of line as far as pricing. I buy similar filters (20 x 24 x 1) for $6-8 for my home air conditioner and the primary filter on this air purifier is made of identical material and is only a small fraction of the size yet runs three times as much? It just doesn't make sense.

A3501H Bionaire Air Cleaner HEPA Filter Review

(More customer reviews)It was half the price of other replacements. It fit the unit as it should. There is no way that I have of determining whether the unit is filtering the way it should, nor have I ever had a way of determining. It appears to be doing the job.

Air Free P1000 Air Purifier With 99% Efficiency Review

(More customer reviews)I have one of these in my bedroom. It is extremely efficient and completely silent. It gets a bit hot on top, but it doesn't seem to be a problem. It also has a blue light - you can regulate its intensity or simply turn it off. It is a really good product.

Surround Air XJ-2100 Ionic Air Purifier Review

(More customer reviews)This item is compact, yet powerful enough and requires minimal cleaning. There are no filters to replace, so once you buy you only pay some pennies on electricity. It also produces small amounts of ozone, which is an excellent odor remover. Unfortunately, the ozone isn't optional, and too much of it isn't healthy.
It has a "high" and "low" state, and a fan which could be turned off.
What I like about it is that it can be placed anywhere in the house, since it's small. Compare that to the Ionic Breeze Quadra ionic towers, which need a lot of space.
As a bonus, you can connect it to the car - even leave it overnight (but you would have to open the windows in the morning to let the ozone out). In my opinion, it is too big for a car - but I have a small compact car, not a SUV. It can be used to remove odors from cars (or rooms), since the ozone does that.
What I wished were differently - as I've written - is the ozone output to be made optional.
Overall, this is a worthy investment, I heard about people ordering a buch of them - five or so (one for each room) - it is cheaper and healthier than an expensive big home unit.
